Masterwood's software is all its own

Masterwood is unique amongst CNC machining centre manufactures in developing its own panel and joinery software rather than relying on third-party packages. Its software designers work closely with the company's development engineers to deliver innovative Windows-compatible, icon-led programs which are simple to learn and easy to use.

Master Cabinet software from Masterwood comes in five levels and features a face framing facility.

For furniture makers, its Master Cabinet software program has recently been upgraded with the addition of an innovative face framing facility.

Face framing is the creation of a solid timber frame fixed to the face of the cabinet, with the door then set inside the frame, often used in high value bespoke kitchens. It could be a simple frame or a more complicated one with divisions so as to create drawers above doors.

It's normally a time-consuming and complicated task requiring the use of various hand processes including a guillotine, fixing jointer, drills and dowels. This is very labour intensive, often inaccurate, and requires a high level of skill to maintain quality and precision.

With Masterwood's face framing software, design and machining programmes are created in seconds with no specific skills required. All the frame machining is then carried out in a matter of minutes, with guaranteed accuracy.

The software deals with the routing, grooving and drilling of the cabinet and the frame joint, moulding and cabinet fixing joint, with a selection of construction types available for each operation.

The face framing module is available with all five levels of Masterwood's popular Master Cabinet program, which speed ups and simplifies cabinet design and production.

Masterwood's standard operating software is MasterWorks, a Windows-based program with CAD/CAM interface. Customers can have it updated on a regular basis so that they benefit from the very latest developments.

MasterNest optimises the number of components per sheet of material and automatically creates the machining program. This gives a big advantage to those manufacturers who wish to save on material costs and substantially reduce wastage.

As well as cabinet packages, Masterwood has developed an extensive suite of specialist software covering all the requirements of the joinery sector.

Master Sliding Sash is one of a growing suite of specialist software programs from Masterwood for solid wood processing.

With MasterDoorSet software it takes just two minutes to design a complete door and door frame and produce a complete set of machining programs. It's for use with slab, or solid core, door blanks, including assembled fire, internal and fibreglass versions.

MasterTraditionalDoor is a similar easy-to-use program like MasterDoorSet, but is for use with stile and rail doors incorporating fielded panels.

MasterStair has been designed to speed up the production of straight and conventional winder flights on Masterwood CNC machining centres. It was developed following extensive trials at leading UK stair makers.

With MasterWindow, like all of Masterwood's software packages, users are taken step-by-step through the design and setting-up stages prior to the machining of all the window frame, sash and facia components. It lets you design and produce windows in a wide variety of sizes and shapes.

Masterwood recently announced a major breakthrough in the design and production of double-hung wooden sliding sash windows with the introduction of Master Sliding Sash.

It lets users design and produce the three main types of double-hung sliding sash windows; box, spiral and tilting. It automatically produces a complete cutting list and drawing of every component, plus all the machining programmes, in a matter of minutes.

It can design the three different types of sliding sash windows in either rectangular, half-round or segmented arch shapes. In addition, it caters for combinations of different types of sashes within the same window.

Said Masterwood (UK) Ltd's managing director, Russell Corlett: "Our unique range of specialist software packages for panels and solid wood enhances our CNC machining centres and allow design work and the machining of components to be carried out in a fraction of the time taken by traditional methods.

"Their popularity is confirmed by a growing numbers of customers, who tell us that our software gives them a huge advantage over their competitors."
